What is a Parent Cooperative school?
A Parent Cooperative school is one that relies on the participation of parents in the school in many aspects of the educational process. In the Classrooms, there is at least one parent available to assist the teacher and the students during class time. Parents follow a flexible rotational schedule and participate in their child's class helping with projects, snack and play time. Our school administration is comprised of a Director, the teachers and a Parent elected board which helps to make decisions regarding the school. Each month parents meet together to review the upcoming programs and activities.

I want to participate in the class but I have a younger/older child I need to bring with me to the school.
Child-care for our children's siblings are coordinated and scheduled to accommodate parent activity in the classroom. Parents will be able to use the nursery for their younger child while they help in their older child's class. (There are no fees for this service.)

What if a parent can not participate in school as part of the Cooperative?

What are the Parent Jobs?
Each parent chooses an area in which to support the school, from acting as Librarian, Historian, Yearbook or Nursery to assisting with Special Events, Fundraising activities or Field Trip Coordination. Each parent can choose how they will be able to assist in the school events and classroom activities which enable St. James Preschool to maintain lower tuition. Members of the School Board are elected parents and their role on the Board is their Parent Job.
